Mojang and Jajaka (Sunda: Girl and Boy) Portray Lutung Kasarung

ANTARAJAWABARAT,com, 18/6 – Mojang and Jajaka (Sunda: Girl and Boy) West Java 2011 try to act portraying typical West Java musical drama as “Lutung Kasarung” held colossally in West Java Cultural Park (Taman Budaya Jawa Barat), 28 October-6 November 2011.
“Musical drama show Lutung Kasarung is one of pilot project in West Java to encourage mojang and jajaka entering real tourism industry,” said West Java vice governor H Dede Yusuf in Bandung, Saturday.
According to Dede, Lutung Kasarung show is one of penetration to youth to be active, not only in merely formal and ceremonial, but also in real world as artist and tourism industrialist.
“‘Moka-moka’ that never dance before would be prepared for the next four months, so they could play their role well,” said Dede Yusuf.
The show is supported by Yayasan Prima Ardian Tana and Saung Angklung Udjo Bandung, would be presented by 100 players consist of West Java Mojang and Jajaka member that has passed test and audition, dancing and casting.
The show would feature local culture, it is acting art colaboration, dancing and singing.
The show would be presented in September 2011 directed by Didi Petet, scenario Eddy D Iskandar and music arrangement Ismet Ruchimat from Samba Sunda.
Lutung Kasarung scenario is a pantun (traditional poetry), talked Sundanese legend about journey of Sanghyang Guruminda from Kahyangan dropped to Buana Panca Tengah (Earth) as a lutung (like monkey).
In his journey, lutung meet with Purbasari Ayuwangi Princess rejected by her evil sister, Purbararang.
Lutung Kasarung is a beast, eventually turn into a prince marry to Purbasari, and rule kingdom in Pasir Batang and Cupu Mandala Ayu kingdom.
“The story contains local philosophy with many morality values in the naration. Two moral values is negative effect from looking down someone as bad and forgiving as good,” said scenario writer Eddy D Iskandar.
At the meanwhile, Loetoeng Kasaroeng is the first film in Indonesia released in 1926 by NV Java Film Company directed by G Kruger and L Heuveldorp.
“After 90 years, it is hoped that Lutung Kasarung which is presented by recent concept could go international. I hope in 2012 Lutung Kasarung could make a show at X-Planet Singapore and other countries,” said Dede Yusuf added.***6***
